The church office will close at 1:00 pm on Fridays during the summer. Monday-Thursday office hours remain 7:30-3:00.
"Be Awed and Be Odd"
A Report from the Minnesota Annual Conference 2010 Session
“We’re people of faith! Yeah, we’re odd! We’re Christians! Yeah, we’re odd! We’re United Methodists! Yeah, we’re odd!” Bishop Sally Dyck gave this, well, odd charge to Minnesota Annual Conference session members during her episcopal address on the first day of the 2010 session, held June 2-4 in Saint Cloud. Encouraging members to “rethink worship” (Minnesota Conference’s theme for the coming year), she explained this means both nurturing a sense of awe and a willingness to be “odd”—to distinguish oneself and one’s church from other groups in our communities. Good worship evokes awe of God and also makes us odd, she said, quoting Eugene Peterson’s version of Romans 12:2: “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking” (The Message). Recycle your Grocery Bags!
The Friends in Need Food Shelf and God’s Closet are always in need of brown paper grocery bags with handles. Both of these organizations use hundreds of bags each week, so if you have more than you can use, please drop them off at either campus.
Volunteers Needed for the Just Cafe
The Sunday morning hospitality ministry on the Woodbury Campus is in need of volunteers to help with setup, serving, and cleanup. For more information or to volunteer, contact Jeanette Behr at jbehr@lmc.org
Electronic Funds Transfer
Please consider giving to the church through electronic funds transfer (EFT). This helps our church maintain a steady cash flow during all months of the year. EFT can be cancelled at any time, and your contribution can be transferred on the 5th, 15th, or the 30th of the month.
