Our Mission Statement

At Woodbury United Methodist Church we have a mission...

To reach out to others for Jesus Christ, making disciples through welcoming, inviting, nurturing, growing, and serving in God's name.

To help us fulfill our mission we are called by God...

To connect all people through caring relationships.
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
1John 4:7

They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and prayers.
Acts 2:42

To reach out, nurture and minister to youth to connect them with a supportive faith community.
But Jesus called them and said, "let the little children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.   Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it."
Luke 18:16-17

To help people identify their spiritual gifts and actively serve God with those gifts.  Each one should use whatever gifts s/he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.   1 Peter 4:10

To build a sense of community beyond WUMC that is spiritually grounded.
After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go.   He said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
Luke 10:1-2

To offer inspiring and relevant worship.
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.   Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing.  Know that the Lord is God.  It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise.  Give thanks to him, bless his name.  For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 100
